http://www.bvi.com.tw/movies/lust_caution/main.html

http://www.slate.com/id/2174852/ (listen to this review about this movie 9/28/07)

It's a MUST-SEE movie, directed by Ang Lee!!!

I hope you all go and see this movie... it will be in the theather on 9/28/2007!!

However, it's NC-17, meaning it's the level above R rated movies, so no ads and limited theather will show this movie :(

but for sure I will try to find out where and go see it the very first day!!

I'll post more after I see this great movie! ooooooooh cant wait!!

** UPDATES: On 9/28/07, ONLY 1 theater in NYC will show this movie... WHY?!?!?!

People in LA will have to wait till OCT. 5th to see this movie, and it seems like ONLY 2 theaters in LA gonna show it!!! WHY?!?!?!

Wondering WHY they have to separate the show time between east and west coast, and also WHY ONLY 1 in NYC and 2 in LA?!?! I really dont understand what their strategies are!

Why they are being SOOO SECRETIVE?!?! Just cuz some SEX scene?! It's NOT a PORN ...PEOPLE!! If people wanna see porn, they can just rent or buy a porn to watch in their own home!!

Dont they understand that there are TONS of people wanna see this movie?! Dont they wanna make MORE $$$?? WHATS WRONG WITH FOCUS (the producing co.)?!?!

BTW, Why the hell they NEVER ADVERTISE THIS MOVIE?! THEY EVEN DIDNT BOTHER TO GO ON TV SHOWS or NEWS to PROMOTE this movie!! I had to GOOGLE it and looked for the info, and on the internet, BARELY had the show time/theathers/and WHERE!!!

So let me ask those junk-head producers, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?! HOW DO WE (THE GENERAL PUBLIC) KNOW AND HAVE THE DESIRE TO GO AND SEE THIS MOVIE IF YOU NEVER WANNA PROMOTE THIS MOVIE?!) GEEEZ!!

FRUSTRATION

These past few days, a CRAZY person 林光常 got BUSTED in Taiwan... he was sued and the proscutor asked for 7 years of prison time!!

What kind of person is he? hmmm, he CLAIMED that he's a doctor, a PhD, a professor, and more importantly, the "GOD FATHER OF CLEANSE OUR BODIES." Yes, all these titles are FAKE, even the "med school" that he claimed he went to, was not even accredited by ANY organization or country!!

Only about 5 yrs of time, he was on TV all the time, making speeches everywhere, published books, and sold lots of products like enzymes, vitamines, "Good water?", and yeh anything he could sell, he'd sell!! Surely, he has made TONS and TONS of money!

Why did he get busted?? Some CA pts came forward to the media, and told the public about their experiences and that when they were first Dxed that they had CA, they listened to him and GAVE UP on receiving the Tx, and totally believed what that ass said, and ate the meals and vitamines that he sold at his stores, now a couple years later, they are now either are dying or already the LAST stage ... yes lots of money have spent, and their are about to die now!!

Remember my GrandPA's death? Very similar case... when I heard about these women's accusation against that ass! My two aunts and other uncles were FIRM believers/followers of that JERK!! When my GrandPA were first Dxed in Feb/March 2005, it was just the very early stage, and ONLY ME and My Dad were PRO-Treatment!! The rest of the damn family members totally AGAINST the surgery-chemo tx!!

Think about it, if he received the tx, yes we couldnt guarantee that he'd be fine or live longer, BUT at least we DID NOT give up, and took the chance to FIGHT, and try to SURVIVE!!

They basically had GIVEN UP the moment they heard it's GASTRIC CA!!
They then tried to FOOL themeslves that "ALTERNATIVE tx" could save their Dad's life!!

So they started that jerk's diet, whole grains, no meats, only VEGGIES/FRUITS, YAMS, and "good water"... Did they not know that to fight against CA, one must have enough energy to do it! The diet must have PROTEINS and is high is calories!! But too bad, they all believed that proteins/meats were the ones that poison the bodies!!

They also were on this diet, oh yeh they also believed that they knew better than all MDs!!

When he was sent into hospital in Late Normember 2005, I knew it's TOOOOOO LATE!!!
I knew it's about TIME, I Just KNEW IT!! And the IRONIC part was, my aunt who were one of the FIRM believer, was being sooo anxious, and FINALLY came and asked me my opinion on the BEST CHEMO TX for her DAD!!! OH GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
she was like, go ask your professors/doctors there at your school, and see if there's BEST BEST tx now for her dad!! she even told me that oh yeh she had friends and friends' friends had Lung CA, and was taking some good chemo drugs, and they were fine and dendy!!

OK, I PATIENTLY explained to her that, um yeh it's a drug thats specifically for LUNG CA, and only for a specific cause of LUNG CA, NOT all LUNG CA can be benefited by that drug...

she continued on and on about that Drug, she's like Oh that magic drug was sooo good, and all they needed to do was to take it like any other meds, no chemo is necessary... blah blah blah...

Trust me, she didnt just stop there, she REPEATED her same stories not only to ME Mutiple times, but also to many other people!!! UGGGHH!! Yes, even after my EXPLAINATION, she still believed what she BELIEVED in !! GOD!! And, I was surprised that Even after I EXplained it to her MULTIPLE TIMES, she still believed what she WANTED to BELIEVE!! UM Of course, what I said was all BULLSHIT to her!! DID I WASTE MY TIME AGAIN?!

Even after that jerk got busted, both of my aunts still believe in things he said!!
HUH? WHY??

One of them even yelled at ME!! Ok, I understand how human's psychology works... those people know that they were WRONG, and had spent lots of money on that jerk, BUT now their GOD is badly accused, of course now they feel terrible and guilty, but they CAN NEVER ADMIT THAT THEY WERE WRONG!!!

So yesterday, I told my mom, WELL you and your family dont come and ask for my help in the future, it's NOT because I'm cold-hearted, it's cuz YOU and YOUR family do not believe ME and are way tooo damn STUBBORN, and I feel FUTILE!! I'm probably one of the NICEST person in this world, I love to help, I love to educate people, I will be there if anyone needs Me, even if I dont know them!!

PEOPLE are STUBBORN & IGNORANT!! WHY?!

Recently, I've been feeling frustrated about the stubborness and ignorance of people!

1st: A family friend had severe nose bleed, and I was NICE enough to provide my help and share the knowledge that I had... but too BAD, they only listened to their "doctor son", HA who might made a bad suggestion to his mom, which might cause the life of his own mom!

BUT, it's OK... It's my NATURE that I like to help people, I can not sit back and not do anything when I know someone needs help!

2nd: My own MOM... yeh another stubborn person! These past month, she already had 3 or 4 episodes of "allergy rxn". She said that she was hot and itchy.. and looked PURPLE.. I felt her face and upper body, she was real HOT!

When it first happened, she blamed on the smoked turkey leg that we got from farmers market... I was like huh? Was she allergic to the spices?? I recalled that she ate roasted penuts, the type of penuts can cause FATAL allergy!! I figured that it MIGHT be the penuts!

Then she took 2, yes TWO antihistamine (some med she got from Taiwan), then she felt asleep... she felt fine after taking a nap..

I also suspected the NIACIN vitamine that she took to lower her cholersterol.
The typical side effects of Niacin are: Itchy, flushing, redness, hot, tingling... the side effects start after about 5-10 min, and last about 1 hr. Yes, it causes this unpleasant sensation, but it might go away after taking Niacin for a period of time. Also, Niacin is the 1st line of tx for Hyperlipidemia. It not only lower choleterol, more importantly, it raises HDL!!
It helps to reduce the Cardiovascular diseases, while famous drugs like Statin, not necessary prevent or reduce the CV disease!

Then, she felt the smiliar sensation, she took the same weird med again!!
Again, she felt FINE afterall...

Yesterday was the most recent time she felt the "allergy rxn". I asked her what she ate, did she take Niacin, when she took Niacin, etc.. She got very frustrated, and was NOT willing to cooperate, and was like blaming on her PMS symptoms and that she hadnt been taking the "soy bean extracts", so her FLUSHING symptom came back!! I was like huh?? I thought she hadnt been having that sensation for a long while, and why it happened so often recently, and by the way, it's been many years since her last MC.

Well, it triggered my interest, so I started looking for info, and more and more I felt the SUSPECT was NIACIN!! Thats why I quote the allergy rxn, cuz they share similar s/s, thats why we both thought it's ALLERGY!!

Then I thought, hmmm if the side effects of Niacin would go away in about an hr after the s/s started, after she took a couple of hrs of nap from taking Antihistamine, she'd also feel FINE!!
So that will double confirm her belief that IT MUST BE ALLERGY, HER WEIRD ANTIHISTAMINE WORKED, AND SHE MUST TAKE 2 each time she feels the sensation!!!

OMG, thats real funny, yet PRETTY SCARY!!

Even my Mom has the false belief... what about the general publics who have NO medical background?!

YES... I still believe that EDUCATE people/pts are VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!

Finally... My 1st Beef PHO (Simple Version)

After tasting a few pho restaurant, I finally decided to make my own version of Pho!!

Soup base---
1.Beef tendon
2. Beef nan
3. ginger
4. Star anise
5. White pepper corn
6. S. corn
7. Cinnamon
8. Anise seed
9. Rice wine
10. Mirin
11. Brown sugar
12. Sea salt

13. Thai basil
14. Thai bird chili
15. Lime
16. Onion
17. Fish sauce
18. pho noodle

* Boil a pot of water (I used 2 pots) and put the beef and tendon into the pot. Add all the spices into the pot too (#1-11)
Boil for at least 4 or 5 hrs or Longer!

*When beef and tendon are soft and tender, cook the pho noodle, place the pho noodle into the bowl, put 13-18 into the bowl, mix well...

*Add the broth to the bowl... I like to put it into the microwave for a couple of min, just to let the pho noodle absorb more of the broth flavor!

** Originally I wanted to cook the broth with beef bone, short ribs, beef chuck, beef tripe, beef brisket etc. , and when the broth is done, just add slices of good quality beef before serving!

BUT, I only had beef nan and tendon in my freezer, but the flavor is still nice and thick!

BTW, I love tendon, I can eat lots of it and not eating meat! I eat it not cuz it has lots of collagen (Yes, great for our skin!), but cuz I just simply love it!

**Try it, I Promise you, it's the BEST pho that I've ever had!!

EPISITAXIS

A 60 yo female, episitaxis (nose bleed) on a sunday midnight, according to her, lots amount of blood was flooding out of her nose, then she checked her BP (according to her husband, it's 170, not sure about the diastolic pressure). The following morning, she got out of her bed, went to the bathroom, she almost lost her conscious and had blurred of vision, then was taken to her bed by the family. Another BP check, it's 90/50. After she fainted, she had another episode of epistaxis.

What is the etiology of her epistaxis?
Why did she almost lose her conscious?
What Questions a doctor should ask the pt in order to make the correct Dx and Correct Tx?
What a doctor should do to save this pt?
Is it just a minor incident (epistaxis) or is it a warning sign?

(I've already given out a lot of hints... not very difficult to figure out!!)

DREAM ABOUT YOU (stevie B.)

OMG another OLD song... loved it.. found out again.. Gotta listen to it again and again...

Being there.. Done that... NOT Fun!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3f6qbTZBFk

There was a time in my life
When I opened up my eyes and there you were
You were more than a dream
I could reach out and touch you girl
That was long ago
There are some things that I guess I will never know
When you love someone you gotta learn to let them go

When I dream about you
Thats when everything is alright
You are in my arms here next to me forever
When I dream about you
Girl you never go away
Just close my eyes, wait for my dreams
Cuz I still LOVE LOVING YOU!!

How can I get you to see
That I 'm falling apart since you've been gone
I could never be sure I could ever let go
Your love is much too strong
There are some things that I guess I will never know
When you love someone you gotta learn to let them go.........

THATS WHY YOU GO AWAY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w94p9m2O9k8

OOh... I love love this song!! Gotta share it...
sad .. OLD.. break-up song...

Baby wont you tell me why
there is sadness in your eyes
I dont wanna say goodbye to you
Love is one big illusion
I should try to forget
but theres something left in my head

You are the one who set it up
Now you are the one to make it stop
I'm the one who's feeling the lost right now
Now you want me to forget every little thing you say
But there's something left in my head

I wont forget the way you are KISSING
the feeling is so strong
were lasting for so long
but I'm not the man your heart is missing
thats why you go away I know

You were never satisfied
No matter How I tried
Now you wanna say goodbye to me
Love is one big illusion
I should try to forget
but there is something left in my head

I wont forget the way you are kissing
The feeling was so strong
were lasting for so long
but I'm not the man your heart is missing
thats why you go away I know

Sitting here all alone in the middle of nowhere
Dont know which way to go
THere aint so much to say now btw us
There aint so much for you
There aint so much for me

I wont forget the way you are kissing
The feeling is so strong, were lasting for so long
But I'm not the man your heart is missing
Thats why you go away I know
Thats why you go away I know!

Dating Multiple People at the Same Time!

A friend told me today that it's very "Normal" to date multiple people at the same time!!
I found out that some of my friends were "secretly" dating more than 1 person at the same time.

Person A dating 1 here in the US, and the other is currently in Taiwan... and he's acutally gonna go propose to that girl in Taiwan next week!

Person B was spotted dating a girl here in the US, at the same time, he had a FIANCE in Taiwan! and they were about to get married!

Um... What's going on here?!?! No one has MORAL nowadays?!

The funny thing is, both of them were not good looking at all! So, girls now are not attracted to "looks" anymore?! LOL .. so it's not just handsome dudes that CHEAT on their partners, but also "sorry looking" dudes!

If we TRUELY LOVED a person, shouldnt we be COMPLETELY FAITHFUL, HONEST, and 100% DEVOTED to the relationship??

Please have some MORAL!

YOU RAISE ME UP

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBga34W57As&mode=related&search=

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be;Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up... To more than I can be.

MY Dental Maniac

Ever since my "Infamous tooth crack incident" started, it seems like it never wants to end!!

8/2/2007 Tooth CRACKED (#13 2nd premolar)

8/7/2007 Visited a CRAZY endodontist, didnt have a great experience, will post in another post about this crazy son of bitch! LOL

8/8/3007 Visited a general dentist... didnt do anything... he made a conclusion after poking on my PAIN spot! Yep, EXTRACTION!!

8/10/2007 Same dentist... FINALLY did something today... ROOT CANAL!! OH YEH, sounds crazy and scary! After did some thinking and debating (inside my head), whether to do RCT or Extraction... couldnt decide... but still had to do SOMETHING about it!

Reasons to do Root Canal---
1. Not cracked too deep, above the Fricture (root), try the best to SAVE my precious Tooth!
2. Since it's cracked from above, not from the root, so it seems like a better option!
3. RCT is to extract the pulp (nerves, blood vessels and all that shit!) So I wont feel no pain!
4. BUT I still have my TOOTH and ROOT!
5. I will have to get a CROWN , yeh thats right , a FAKE tooth! Another EXPENSIVE cost!
6. I PROBABLY wont need to do Dental Implants.... You know how MUCH MORE is that gonna cost me?! Yep, we are talking about THOUSANDS of US dollars!! Jesus... I should've chosen dental school!!

7. BUT, there's still a Probability that the RCT will not work in the future, yep no one knows WHEN that will happen!
There's ALWAYS a PROBABILITY that some procedure wont work out or wont last forever!!

Yep No doctors can tell their pts that, "we are 100% guarantee that this procedure will be 100% safe, 100% fine and dendy, 100% success rate!!"

Reasons to do Extraction---
1. Crack way tooo deep, yep to the point that the whole tooth is SPLIT into 2 , even the root is split too!! LOL it sounds funny, BUT trust me, it's NOT!

2. I can and HAVE to get an implants .. YAY!! Yeh right! NOT FUNNY!

See.. implants ... After extraction, have to WAIT for like at least a month to HEAL, then have to DRILL 1 titanium thing deep into the BONE! yep it requires SURGERY!! Then WAIT for at least 3-6 months to let the OSTEOBLAST to do its work to intergrate with this new titanium thing!! Then Add something else to stablize this thing... then wait for a couple of weeks, THEN finally add the CROWN!! yep It's not just the $$$ but also the TIME!! How the hell I have the time to do all that?! Totally I probably need to WAIT more than HALF year to get my pretty FAKE tooth done!! LOL

Back to today's dental visit...

See I was like ready to go in there and get an extraction, but but but I also wanted to save my tooth... so I discussed with my dentist, finally we came to an agreement, he'd open up the filling, and see how deep the crack was, and if its NOT savable, then he'd do extraction, if it's savable, he'd get rid of the nerves/pulp... yep root canal.. BUT I still dont understand the differnce btw
Root cancal and Emergency (Palliative) tx, base on what I understood, both of them needed to get rid of the nerves/pulp. But the PRICE is definitely different!

Price for RTC this dentis ($385), Emergency ($90)

Price for RTC that bitch endodontist ($850), Emergency (200+ consultation 75!)

First he put some lidocaine in my mouth, then more anesthetic via HUGE needle , yeh still feel the PAIN doc even with that lidocaine!

He bascially opened up the filling, HA I see my CRACK of that damn tooth! It went right across the tooth, and yep into HALF!! BUT I dont know how DEEP the crack is... Originally he wanted to extract it, but for some odd reason , he changed his mind, and then he decided to SAVE my tooth HA!!

He used some little drill, drill out the nerves/pulp, then use the driller to make my tooth smaller, so I wont bite onto it everytimw I eat.. BUT he warned me that I still can not chew on my left side!! He only put a tempory filling to cover up my WOUND!

Well see the downside of RCT is, since my tooth is cracked, so it MIGHT crack DEEPER, and eventually dentist still have to extract it, and yep thats right, I eventaully will have wasted all the money that I'm spending now!! And have to spend more money on extraction and Implants!

The whole procedure is quite fast, not as long as I thought it'd take... but he asked me to go back to him to finish THE REST of the work... hmmm wondering whatelse he'll have to work on my poor little tooth?!

***Lesson learned from this incidence... I HAVE to make LOTS and LOTS of MONEY!!
Yep, you rich dentists LISTEN UP!! The money you take out of my poket, I will get it back SOME DAY!! LOL it hurts!

Well dentists need REAL DOCTORS to fix their many other HEALTH problems right?! So WE will WAIT & SEE!!

Seriously, without money, no money to see doctors, no money to fix my tooth, no money to do anything.. and I will have to live in pain! How much a tooth can cost, you might ask? I dont know, but for sure, it's PRICELESS!! Yep, another lesson learned, TAKE CARE of TEETH!!

Thursday, August 2, 2007

MY TOOTH CRACKED!!

Ok it's not very funny! cuz I'm in pain now, and I dont know what to do next!

I was eating a piece of goose meat, and all of sudden I bit into a peace of small bones, and then the PAIN started!! I thought the pain would just went away, but no it's been 4 hrs, still hurting!

Ok so I went to a denist, got an X ray, the denist couldnt see anything, so he used some kind of 3D computerized thing to check, and on the computer screen, it showed a crack that went across my tooth. AHHHHHHHHHHHH thats why!! yeh like a superficial crack that cracked through a stone!

Immediately, that ass denist told me that my ONLY OPTION was to pull that tooth offf!!

Yeh damn it! A small piece of goose bone can do such a HUGE damage!!

It's my first tooth got pulled cuz of ACCIDENTS!! (not including my wisdom tooth!)
I wont have no tooth left in that spot!! I'm not afraid of pulling tooth, cuz base on my wisdom teeth experience, I had my dentist pulled ALL 3 of them in one setting!! thats right all 3!!
And wisdom teeth WERENT EASY to pull!! And it's painful as hell!
And it took me weeks to feel better!

I just couldnt believe it! Maybe the crack only at the SUPERFICIAL level. Maybe the damage is not so serious!

But I dont believe in ONLY 1 Option theroy! a good doctor should NOT just looking out for their own $$$$$$ beneifts, they should think about pts' situation and give MORE than 1 option!!

Today's "modern technology" cant save a tooth besides pulling it out and get rid of everything?!

I dont believe it!

DEPRESSION & CBT

Today got an email from my cousin... who has depression...
since I learned about it and its treatment at UCLA... so I might as well collect my thoughts and help her... and it might also benefit others who need help!

While I was in college, my school was emphasizing on CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy). And I did some research on that.. It might take time, but the good thing is you dont have to RELY on medicine!!

CBT is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behavior) all interact together. Specifically, our thoughts influence our feelings and our behavior. Therefore, negative and unrealistic thoughts can cause us distress and result in problems.

I think what you can do are..........

1. Think about your what REAL problems are, what really confuses and upsets you, just anything that brings you down.

2. WRITE them down... in a journal... Make a list of your problems...
Write down your THOUGHTS and FEELINGS!!

3. THINK POSITIVELY!! THINKING is the Cognitive part...
It's very important to think postivively... even though it's easy to think negatively, but whenever there are negative or depressing thoughts that come aross your mind, just do anything you can do get rid of that BAD thoughts!! Yes Negative is BAD!! Think about something that makes you HAPPY & SMILE & LAUGH!! It's very very important !!

Distract yourself from THINKING NEGATIVELY!! But DO NOT avoid the problems!! Just Avoid the negative thoughts!!

4. After you are done with the Postive thinking, you DO IT!! "DO" is part of Behavior... DO things that are POSITIVE or GOOD!!
You do something that make you HAPPY. What are your interests? What are your hobbies?
If you like indoors (like seeing movies, cooking, ...), or outdoors (hanging out with your friends, exercise...). You should know what your insterests are ...

5. It's important to do it Gradually... meaning Do NOT rush it... just start from begining and do it SLOWLY... you cant expect it to work in 1 day!

6. My suggestion is, do not hang out with NEGATIVE people, people that think negatively or is depressed... they tend to think things would go bad, and worry Excessively... They even try to influence others with their bad mood and thoughts!! Like my Mom... she's quite typical! I always told her that she thought tooo negative, she worries about this and that... yeh you might say well moms are always like that... BUT Not everyone!! And everytime she does this to me, I'd get upset and depressed!! I dont like that kind of feeling...

7. Also, Exercise can do some miracle too... dont stay at home, online all day... just do some walking and jogging, ask your mom or brother to walk or run with you... during late afternoon when it's not too hot...

8. Remember the list of your problems and thoughts?
FACE THEM!! Yes, Face each and every of them BRAVELY!!

Challenge your negative thoughts!! To re-interpret it in a more realistic way .This helps you to develop more RAITONAL beliefs and healthy coping strategies.
(e.g. a person got fired, and he doesnt have any money, he feels that he must have a good career and make lots of money, or else he'd feel worthless,
and now he feels depressed because he lost his job and has no money!!

(1) What Activated or triggered his depression? He lost his job and has no money.

(2) What are the negative thoughts and Belief? He feels worthless cuz he has no jobs and money, and he sees other people has good jobs and lots of money!

(3) What are the Consequences? He's depressed!!

How do we help this person? First like I just did, we Identify the problems. We Face the problems. Ask himself, does losing a job making him the most worthless person in the world? Yeh having a good job is good, losing a job is not that bad! He can pick himself up and find a job again! Ask himself, what can be done to find a better job? Maybe more school? more degree? Know what he really is interested in... Not what other people are expecting him to be!

***Do not try to compare yourself with others!! It's very important! cuz comparing and competing only make you feel anxious and leads to depression if you THINK that you are no better than other people!!

Do not try to avoid them!! Next to each of your problems, you think of what can be done to Solve this perticular problem.

I think ONLY YOU know what your real problems are, and probably Only you know what the solutions are... If you cant think of a solution, you can ask for help from your friends, family, or even doctors!!

9. RELAX... Maybe get a Massage? A total body massage can make you feel relax... and after the massage, get a bath... just listen to some light music or songs, just do not think of anything else, just relax in the bathtub... and drink water...

Or you can eat... just not too much, eat healthy... do not eat bad foods..

10. I support CBT combined with Anti-depressant drugs. When I was in college, I wrote a BIG paper about this topic... because it's so far the MOST effective way of treating depression!
Also has the lowest Replaspe rate!!

11. So do NOT discontinue the medication that you are taking, take them everyday, and do what I just told you everyday... write down the date that you start doing them, and then see how long it will take you to WALK OUT of your depression!!

Tom Yum Kung (THAI HOT SOUP)

1. Lemon grass
2. Ginger
3. Lime juice
4. Lime skin
5. Lime leaves
6. Thai chili pepper
7. Cilantro
8. Thai basil
9. Oranic chicken stock
10. Shrimp
11. Fish sauce
12. Mirin
13. Brown sugar

*Add Lemon grass, lime skin, ginger, lime leaves, chili peper, fish sauce, mirin, brown sugar, into the stock, broil...

*Add shrimp or tofu or chicken into the stock...
(I cant eat mushroom, allergic to that!! so you can add mushroom if you want!)

*The min before you turn off the fire, add cilantro, Thai basil, and then lime juice

*If want the other creamy kind of soup base, just add coconut milk at the end...

** This is a MUST Eat Thai soup!!

**Again, this soup has the 4 flavors of Thai food: Spicy, Sweet, Sour, and Aroma.
You might wonder, why eat all these hot dishes during summer? It's already HOT enough outside!!

**Yes, during summer our appetite is low, so the sourness, spicyness, and the aroma can stimulate our appetite. Also, the spicyness can stimulate the blood vessel--->Vasodilate... so when the vessels are dilated, the cirulation is better, blood flows back to heart, and supply enough O2 to our Important Brain!! So we wouldnt feel too tired and fatigue...

**Also it's very important to SWEAT!! The spicyness definitely can help us SWEAT a lot!
When we sweat, the heavy metal and other bad stuff are out of our system... and in a way, cleans our body!

**Think about it this way, Thailand, Vietnam, India, and all the Southeastern countries are SUMMER All year round!! But, they have all these Spicy/Sour dishes. And those countries are famous for their veggie and spices, if these ingreidents are bad for people, why would they use those ingredients and create all different kinds of dishes? And totally blend them all into their lives!!

**BUT, remember DO NOT drink COLD water or drinks after eating hot foods, cuz it's just adding extra burden to our stomach (GI system)... Even though it feels good when we eat something cold during summer, but it's only for the Temporay pleasure, it's Not good for our body! If eating cold with hot stuff, some can get diarrhea and upset stomach!

** The best way to cool us down is to drink normal temp. water... just plenty of water... to make up the Sweat that lost!!

THAI CURRY LAMB

1. Lemongrass
2. Thai Bail
3. Purple Onion
4. Garlic
5. Ginger
6. Cilantro
7. Red/Green chili pepper
8. Lime
9. Lime skin
10. Lime leaves

11. Brown sugar
12. Mirin
13. white pepper
14. Sea salt
15. Coconut milk
16. Curry powder
17. Fish sauce

18. Leg of Lamb (3lbs)

*I love Thai curry, the majority of the ingridents are veggi.... but I dont like japanese and indian.. too much spices!

*Oilve oil, high heat, seal lamb (chop into chunks), season the lamb with sea salt and pepper.
Brown all sides, set it aside (on a plate)

*Blend up 1-12, put it into pan, fry it with the oilve oil and lamb juice!!
add brown sugar, fish sauce, white pepper, sea salt , mix well till the aroma is out!

*Add curry powder, mix well

*Put the lamb back to the pan, mix well, cover it up, low heat, add Coconut milk, cook till the meat is NICE & TENDER!!

*Get a bowl of Thai Jasmine rice, and...................... Drumrolls................ ENJOY!!!

** Can substitue lamb with beef, Duck, or chicken... just use the kind of meat that has stronger and meaty flavor!

**Thai curry is not only very aromatic (the aroma from all the veggi and spices), but also has this sweetness from brown sugar and purple onion, a bit sourness from lime, the Spicyness from Red/Green chili pepper, and then finally ROUND it all UP with the creaminess of Coconut milk!!

**ALL the flavors balance each other out, no one overpowers the other, yet you can taste each and every Unique flavor!!!

**I heard that Lamb is acutally very good and can boost up our energy, esp. during this HOT summer! I think this dish can be eaten all year around... cuz during COLD winter, lamb can warm you up!

TWO LESS LONELY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD--- I MISS MY GRANDPA!!

December 8, 2005 the day my DEAREST Grandfather passed away... :...(

That Monday and Tuesday were my final exams, I had to take 4 exams and quickly packed and rushed back home...

My flight to Taiwan was Wed. afternoon, he passed away before 2am on wed. night (Taiwan's time), so it's before 10am on wed. cali time. but I didnt know that he had left!!

On the plane, I listened to this song by air supply, a very old song, for some reason I repeatly listened to it and couldnt stop thinking about my Grandpa and couldnt stop my tears...

Maybe cuz the sad tone of this song... I remember it was a very stressful time, for weeks I hadnt been sleeping, studying hard for exams and lots of thing to do... on top of that, the week before final exam, my grandpa was sent into hospital...

Right at that moment I heard about that, I knew it's not looking good... he had Gastric adenocarcinoma... and later on, they dx that it's already the last stage... it already metastasized to liver...

I was sooo envy that my brother was able to be there and checked on him, once in the life time most precious lesson!! I wished wished that I was there too...

A few days before my grandpa passed away, I told my Dad that I wanted to see my grandpa ONE LAST TIME!! My Dad wanted me not to worry too much, and he even tried to lie to me!
On the day I was about to leave for airport, my Dad told me oh Grandpa was fine, and he promised that he'd take me to visit him as soon as I got off the plane! Ok I did believe my Dad...

Around 12 Thursday night, I finally arrived, and my Dad and brother went to pick me up... in the cab, no one was talking, and I was thinking, hmmm is Dad gonna take me to hospital now? how come he didnt say anything? And shit everyone was sooo quiet, so I didnt ask... I was thinking maybe tomorrow morning....

When I got home, saw my Mom, the first thing she told me was, "Grandpa already passed away!!" HOLY SHIT!!! Yeh exactly, I was cursing!! well not directly toward my mom, but just just didnt know how to react... just that everyone was so damn normal, no one was crying!! My brother said , "well, Dad told him not to say anything!" Ha, Dad knew how upset I'd get if I found out.... Everyone was really good at ACTING!! Damn!

I was like shit I had to go see him... they were like where do you think you are going?! he's not at hospital ! His body was sent to somewhere else! so we talked till very late that night... and I woke up real early, cuz I had to go see him!!

He was lying in his coffin, but I could not see him. So I didnt get to see him AGAIN! Damn it!

I bet he was very lonely when he passed away in the hospital... no one was by his side...
I wished wished that my plane would fly faster, so I could be there... holidng his hands.... touching his face... ONE LAST TIME....

On Dec. 18, it's his final day on earth... Everyone was there to send him... he was the GREATEST MAN I know, and HE is MY ONLY GRANDPA!!!

I LOVE YOU GRANDPA!!!
You are the first person in my life gave me the GREATEST COMPLIMENTS and PRAISES!! Without you, I wouldnt have the CONFIDENCE that I have!!

You were there, holding me up, and putting me on your shoulder when I was just a little kid crying, lying on the floor, hiding under table, missing my mom, and was teased by that stupid uncle!

You were there, you knew that my heart was hurt when that stupid uncle made stupid comments (cuz my mom took my elder brother to travel and left me in my greatgrand parents' house, and that ass uncle said things like ha ha ha your mom didnt want you, you had no mom, ha ha ha!!).

You said nothing, you just picked me up, walked out of the house, and left my other cousins and that uncle so damn jealous!! LOL

I was the only grandkid that you put on top of your shoulder, and you took me to a nightmarket, bought me candy, still remember it's the sweet and sour kind of fruit that's coated with a layer of candy. We also stood there and watched a show!!
I remember there were lots of people that worked for you followed US quietly!!

I was licking the candy with a big smile on my tearful face... even though it's many many years ago, but I still remember ... maybe you've forgot about it, but in my little mind, you were a Giant, that raised me up... you knew what to do to comfort a little kid... a President of a big company would do that?! That I never dreamed of... but it's True!

You always praised me in front of everyone when I was just a little kid, and yes I was always the ONLY one that you praised about! I was stunned everytime you gave me compliments... cuz you were my idol!! And that did MEAN A LOT to me!!

Everytime I went back to Taiwan and visited you, even though you were getting old and not having great memory, and you were very quiet, didnt talk much while everyone was chatting out loud!! But for sure, you were Listening! Cuz whenever my Mom, grandma, and aunt were talking about my performance, you'd look at me and gave me a THUMBS UP sign, a HUGE SMILE, a few Nods, and said "VERY VERY GOOD!!"

Yes, you didnt need to say tons of words to express yourself, but just a thumbs up, a huge smile, and a few nods BEAT thousands of words!! And that, for sure I'll remember FOREVER!!

THANK YOU GRANDPA!! YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY HEART!!

I was down my dreams were wearing thin
When you're lost where do you begin
My heart always seemed to drift from day to day
Looking for the love that never came my way

Then you smiled and I reached out to you
I could tell you were lonely too
One look and then it all began for you and me
The moment that we touched I knew that there would be

Two less lonely people in the world
And it's gonna be fine
Out of all the people in the world
I just can't believe you're mine
In my life where everything was wrong
Something finally went right
Now there's two less lonely people In the world tonight

Just to think what I might have missed
Looking back how did I existI dreamed,
still I never thought I'd come this far
But miracles come true, I know 'cause here we are

Tonight I fell in love with you
And all the things I never knew
Seemed to come to me somehowBaby,
love is here and now there's

If Ever You're In My Arms Again

IF EVER YOU'RE IN MY ARMS AGAIN (Peabo Bryson)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1h4ridjFGSc

It all came so easy, all the loving you gave me The feelings we shared, and I still can remember How your touch was so tender, it told me you cared We had a once in a lifetime But I just couldn't see, until it was gone A second once in a lifetime, may be too much to ask But I swear from now on

If ever you're in my arms again This time I'll love you much better If ever you're in my arms again This time I'll hold you forever This time will never end

Now I'm seeing clearly How I still need you near me I still love you so There's something between us That won't ever leave us There's no letting go We had a once in a lifetime But I just didn't know it Till my life fell apart A second once in a lifetime Isn't too much to ask 'Cause I swear from the heart

Now I'm seeing clearly How I still need you near me I still love you so There's something between us That won't ever leave us There's no letting go We had a once in a lifetime But I just didn't know it Till my life fell apart A second once in a lifetime Isn't too much to ask 'Cause I swear from the heart

Chorus
The best of romances, deserve second chances I'll get to you somehow 'Cause I promise now

The youngest of Al Gore's three daughters, Sarah Gore, 28, married businessman Bill Lee in Beverly Hills on Saturday, family spokesperson Kalee Kreider confirms to PEOPLE. The bride, who is taking her husband's last name, wore a gown by Monique Lhuillier at the wedding, which took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Willie Nelson performed at the reception, according to a family friend who was there and described it as "a great party." Sarah Lee, as she is now named, is a medical student at the University of California San Francisco. She met her husband at a function for her father's Oscar-winning environmental documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. The movie was executive produced by Jeff Skoll, who served as the best man at the wedding. "As one person joked during the wedding toasts, global warming helped bring Sarah and Bill together," the family friend tells PEOPLE.

The Gore family hosted a rehearsal dinner for 75 family and friends the previous evening at Beverly Hills' Crustacean restaurant, a longtime favorite of the Gores. Crustacean's executive chef, Helene An, created for the wedding-eve party a six-course tasting menu that included Chilean sea bass and roasted crab. (To allay any conservationist concerns, the restaurant later specified that the sea bass served were not endangered or illegally caught.) Then there was the dancing. "Al was the life of the party," says a source. "He and Tipper rocked on the dance floor." Love reading about weddings? Check out our new Real Life Weddings blog.

Sarah Gore, youngest daughter of Al and Tipper Gore, to California businessman Bill Lee. Gore, a 28-year-old med student at the University of California at San Francisco, met Lee, 36, in Los Angeles. This is the first marriage for both; a July wedding is planned.

WHEN YOU TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME!!!

I DO NOT TRUST HIM FOR LOVE YOU AS YOU SHOULD BE LOVED!!!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRYQtQZRquw

I wanna call the star down from the sky
I wanna live the day that never dies
I wanna change the world, only for you
All the impossible that I wanna do

I wanna hold you close... under the rain
I wanna kiss your smile ...and feel the pain
I know what's beautiful... looking at you
In the world of lies...you are the truth

and baby...everytime you touch me
I become a hero
I'll make you safe no matter where you are
and bring you ...everything you ask for
nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me

I wanna make you see just what I was
show you the loneliness and what it does
you walk into my life, to stop my tears,
everything is easy now... I have you here

and baby... everytime you touch me
I become a hero
I'll make you safe no matter where you are
and bring you... everything you ask for
nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me.

ooooooo in the world without you,
I will always hunger
all I need is your love
to make me stronger

everytime you touch me
I become a hero
I'll make you safe
no matter where you are
and bring you
everything you ask for
nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me

** I havent done this dish for years!! Lots of prep work, but it's very easy to do this dish!
can substitue and/or add ingredients, but these are the basic igridients!

**This is a very traditional Taiwanese dish. The green skin pumpkin has sweet and soft taste when it's cooked, so it goes very well with rice noodle!

** with the amount I used, probably can feed 12-15 people!

**sometimes people like to add fresh seafoods like oyster, shrimp, clams, scallop, squid, etc.
If they are fresh, the whole dish would taste really good. But here in the US, not easy to get FRESH & LIVED seafoods, a lot of frozen ones, and NO sweet and fresh taste!! Even if they are lived and fresh, they are super expensive!

**For vegitarians, can add tofu and other veggie, or just dont add meat!

T7 is VERY IMPORTANT!!

Ok today I learned something that's very important and can possibly save anyone's life!

At T7 or the lower boarder of scapular (draw a horizontal line between the scapulars, just at the middle of the line), use middle knuckle pressed HARD into that spot, press and massage for a while. To increase the effect, can also pound on it with your fist!

What can this do?

When a pt has Angina or MI, ask the pt to sit, you do the pressing job on his/her back.
Miracle can happen! This probably has the effect of Nitroglycerin!

But of course, gotta call 911 first, and while waiting for the paramedics, you can probably save a person's life!!

*To entertain people in a party, just roll the dough into long log shape, when out of oven, just cut it into pieces, a great au' derve!!!

SICKO!!

Incendiary documentarian Michael Moore has a penchant for ticking people off. After all, he's the man responsible for chastising Americans for their obsession with violence in the 2002 Oscar-winning doc 'Bowling for Columbine.' And -- as if you'd forgotten -- he also famously ripped President Bush a new one in 2004's 'Fahrenheit 9/11,' which examined Bush's mishandling of Middle East policies and earned $119 million (by far a record for documentaries) in the process. But if you think you'll object to Moore's newest film 'Sicko,' about the dire need for U.S. health care reform (and, more specifically, universal health care), you may want to put down those "We Don't Want Moore" banners and get ready to do something you never thought possible: wholeheartedly agree with the man.In 'Sicko,' Moore travels to England, France, Canada and even Cuba to see how the health care programs in those countries stack up to our own (hint: they're better), and exposes how even those U.S. citizens with health insurance are victimized by the system. The result is a film that is simultaneously informative, jaw-droppingly scary and immensely entertaining. It is also Moore's least controversial, least partisan film to date. And, as the filmmaker himself told us in an exclusive interview, that could be a very dangerous thing. Why make a movie about the failings of the U.S. health care system now, at this specific moment in time?Well, it is the number one domestic issue in the country, according to every poll that's taken. It is something that affects everyone. Everyone gets sick. Everyone needs to see the doctor at some point. And it's the best example of how our system is set up to benefit the few at the expense of the many.A lot of critics are saying that this is your least controversial film to date. Why do you think they're saying that ... and do you agree with them?I think maybe a better way to put it is that it may end up being a more dangerous film because it's less controversial, because it does reach out and will appeal to all kinds of people and not just hard-core Democrats. And because of that, if it reaches more people it has a better chance of having some impact.

Do you think you have the chance to win over some more people, the kind of people who wouldn't have seen a Michael Moore film a few years back?Yeah, but I won them over not just by making this film but because they remember that crazy guy in the ball cap was one of the first to say that we're being led to war for fictitious reasons and that it wasn't going to work. Now, after all these years, people are seeing that's exactly what happened. So if I turned out to sort of have my finger on the pulse that time, maybe the next time it might be worth listening to what I'm saying. What do you hope to accomplish with 'Sicko'? Do you just want to bring the issue to the fore of U.S. consciousness and spark a discussion, or do you think the film could actually be a catalyst to reform? You know, it's hard to say. First and foremost, I make movies to entertain people and to give them a great two hours on a Friday night. So that's what I hope will happen.Do you think we'll ever have universal health care?Ha. Oh yeah. We're the last of the industrialized countries. The other 24 have it. We're the last one. So yeah, it'll definitely come to us.In your opinion, what are the steps to get there?People are going to have to demand it because the politicians will not do it on their own. They're taking way too much money from the insurance industry and the pharmaceutical companies. So only if people stand up and demand it, tell their members of Congress they want it, will it happen. So, on the most basic level, if someone sees your film and gets fired up about the issue, what can they do to actually make a difference? There's a bill in Congress H.R. 676, sponsored by Representative John Conyers. Tell your representatives to sponsor that bill.

What was your reaction when you first learned that 'Sicko' had been leaked on the Web and was available to stream on YouTube? Obviously, the studio didn't want it out there, but were you happy in a way because it meant that people who probably would not have watched the film otherwise were now exposed to it?That's exactly how I feel. I don't like our copyright laws and I believe that it's OK to share information and ideas and art. It's not OK to steal it and sell it, but if you're sharing it for free with your friends, that should be perfectly OK.You projected the 'Sicko' trailer on buildings in Times Square, Sunset Blvd. and other heavily trafficked public areas. Have you seen any feedback from this?I think a lot of people were talking about it. I think the best sites were where we projected on the headquarters of some HMOs and pharmaceutical companies. I think that people really enjoyed that.In the film, you mention anonymously helping the man who runs the biggest anti-Michael Moore Web site to pay some medical bills. Now that your assistance is no longer anonymous, have you had any further contact with him?Yes, I called him before the first time we screened it at the film festival in Cannes and told him it was me. I didn't want him to be surprised by it.And what did he say?He was very grateful and thanked me and wished the film well. And then said, "I'm still going to talk smack about you on my Web site tomorrow"?Ha. Well, he might. That's my point. His freedom of speech shouldn't be taken away just because he can't afford health insurance. No, definitely not. Now, the most controversial part of this film for most viewers will likely be the finale, in which you travel to Cuba with a group of Americans to see if they can get the health care there that they've been denied here. The Cuban people and medical community seemed to embrace you with open arms. Were they aware in advance that you were coming to Cuba? They were, but I told them we wanted the same exact care that the Cuban people get. I didn't want any special treatment. In fact, we went around and visited other clinics and hospitals to see how Cubans were treated to make sure we would get that kind of treatment.

What kind of criticisms or attacks do you foresee coming from Michael Moore naysayers after this film?None. I think this is one thing Americans can agree on.Who's your health care provider?I belong to the Director's Guild, so I'm on of the nine percent of the American workforce that belongs to a union. In a recent rally in L.A., you wished George Bush well. Are there really no hard feelings between the two of you?Ha. You know, I've never uttered the words, "I hate George W. Bush," and I never would say that. He's a human being, he's a fellow American. We have a disagreement, but I'm sure he thinks what he's doing is best. And, you know, I think what he's doing is taking us down the wrong path and has made our country less safe. And we've lost a lot of time here, so we'll have to get it back.Would you ever consider running for office, try to make a change that way?I was actually the first 18-year-old in Michigan to be elected to public office, back when 18-year-olds were given the right to vote back in the '70s. I was on the Board of Education. So I did that for four years. And I got to be the boss of the principal [laughs].And would you ever do that again? No [laughs]. I've served my time in public office. Now I do this. What topics out there are you just itching to tackle next?Oh, there are so many things and I'm so tired right now I can't even begin to think of them. And you're working on another film right now, correct?Yes, yes -- but I'm not talking about it.Have there been any films -- documentaries or otherwise -- that inspired you to do what you're doing now? There was an early film that inspired me. It was about the Vietnam War, called 'Hearts and Minds.' I encourage people to check it out.OK, one last question. Are there any movies -- other than your own -- that you're dying to see this summer?Oh yeah -- 'The Simpsons Movie' [laughs]. Are you kidding? We're all waiting for that.

Do You Want FLAT ABS?

You can't down 3,000 calories a day and expect to lose your belly, but calories aren't the entire story. Certain foods seem to pack pounds on the midsection: Last fall, experts from the ongoing Framingham Nutrition Studies reported that women who ate almost 400 fewer daily calories but chose the least nutritious foods had a 2 1/2 times higher risk of abdominal obesity than those who ate that much more but made better choices. They also had dramatically higher risk of such serious health issues as type 2 diabetes and heart attacks, says Barbara Millen, DPH, the study's director of nutritional research. You don't have to "diet": Just fold these strategies into your life and watch ab flab pare down.

Fruits & Veggi

Especially orange ones. Women trimmed their waists by replacing refined grains like white bread and simple or added sugar with carbs from fruits and vegetables, according to the latest review from Copenhagen University Hospital.
Besides packing in the fiber, which keeps you feeling full longer, researchers suspect it's the rich antioxidants, such as vitamin C and beta-carotene, that ward off ab fat. Carrots, cantaloupe, squash, and peaches are great sources of beta-carotene, while oranges, berries, and kiwi provide a good dose of C. To keep calories down, pick veggies, like bell peppers, before fruits, and choose fruits over juice.

Selenium (Cheese!)

This cancer-fighting mineral is also linked to lower rates of abdominal obesity, according to a survey of more than 8,000 Americans. People with low blood levels of selenium and other antioxidants had bigger waistlines than those with higher levels.
Selenium is found in many foods, but it can be hard to know if you're getting the recommended 55 mcg a day because amounts vary based on the soil in which food is grown and the feed livestock consume. To meet your requirement, try a supplement or eat a varied diet. Also, opt for foods grown in different areas: such as grains from the Midwest, Vermont cheeses, and nuts from California.

Proteins (NUTS: Almonds, Walnuts, etc.)

Eating more protein keeps you full and boosts energy, which leads to overall weight loss and--for those over 40--reduced ab fat in particular, according to findings from Skidmore College and Copenhagen University Hospital.
But studies show that eating high amounts of protein may stress the kidneys as they work to eliminate the excess, which can also cause calcium loss. Aim to get 25% of your calories from protein (if you eat 2,000 calories a day, that's 500 from protein). Just make lean choices such as low-fat yogurt, fat-free milk, fish, and poultry. Nuts are another great source but can be high in calories: Have just five 1-ounce servings a week (an ounce is about 24 almonds, 18 cashews, or 35 peanuts).

Wine

Don't start drinking wine just to fight ab fat, but if you enjoy a glass with dinner, it's a great benefit. Some studies even suggest that light to moderate drinking protects against female midsection weight gain, compared with teetotaling. Based on a review of data collected by the National Center for Health Statistics, one 4-ounce glass of red or white wine most days a week (up to 20 a month) seems to be best.
More, however, is not better. That extra glass of wine--or even just one cocktail--adds inches, found the Copenhagen study, while other research implicates beer in the proverbial "beer belly."

Right Oil

Research from Spain shows it's easier to stay slim eating monounsaturated fats (such as olive oil) and omega-3s (found mostly in fish but also in flaxseed and walnut oils and tofu), while omega-6 fats (prevalent in cereals, corn oil, baked goods, and eggs) caused ab fat to pile on.
Fats that should be eliminated completely: trans fats, which have no nutritional value and are mostly found in calorie-dense baked goods and chips. In a Wake Forest University study, monkeys eating a typical American diet for 6 years gained the human equivalent of 10 pounds more when the fat they ate was all trans fat, compared with those eating monounsaturated fat. Worse, "30% more fat was added in the abdominal region, and they had early signs of diabetes," says researcher Kylie Kavanagh, DVM

CHEESE & HAM for Breakfast==> GREAT MEMORY!!

Basically this research is from England, they found that this combination of breakfast helped increasing Memory, Effiency, and Concentration!!

WOW, these 3 are exactly what I need!! So tomorrow, head to Trader Joe's to get me some Cheese and Ham, and some whole grain bread!

*when I read this article, I was like WHAT?! Two super salty foods, and ham always come with Preservatives... not super healthy! But for Americans/westerners, the usual breakfast combo are: eggs, ham, cheese, bread, bacon, milk, fruits.... So it's not new to us, but if they eat eggs, cheese, ham, and bread everyday, why NO ONE tells us that his/her memory is better than ever?!

* but besides the "unhealthy" aspect, they sure taste delicious!

DO NOT DO IT, I WARN YOU!! IT'S JUST WRONG!!

This is from a friend....

pregant with a USA citizen fetus
I dont understand the things people go thru to have their kids a citizenship. They get pregnant in Asia fly to USA then deliver the child in USA then fly back to there country so their kid can have a USA citizenship...... all that for a USA citizenship?

BELOW is MY reply...

Ok, everyone has their freedom of choosing whatever they want in and for their lives.

BUT, I DO NOT agree with this kind of behavior!!

It's the easiest way to get a US citizenship, and any stupid can think of this way!
Not just asian but also mexican...so it creats lots of problems!

Now it seems like the white house trying to push the law that even if the kids have citizenship, but the parents do not have, the parents will still be forced to go back to their own country. Yeh it might seem like a horrible thing to do, but EVERYONE knows that it's those ILLEGAL Immigrants Planned to do!!

Yeh and if a preg woman whether she has US citizenship or not, she was sent into ER to deliver her baby, the hospital can not refuse this woman!!
And the worse things are, they LEAVE with the babies WITHOUT Paying!! NO one can find them cuz they leave no info of themselves!
Yeh thats another hole in this health care system!

We, the LEGAL immigrants, have gone through A LOT to just to get this US citizenship!! Why in HELL those ILLGALS are doing shit like this?! Why in the HELL they asking for WORKING permit to work LEGALLY in the US?!

I've heard of many famous people that just flied to the US and deliver the baby. And this business is reallly HOT in the west coast!! People are in this business and have those women lived here for a while, and take care of their lives, then send them to hospital to Finally get the US CITIZENSHIP!!

It didnt affect me until a friend in Taiwan told Me someday that she wanted to come to the US to have her babies.

well now, she's Not married yet, but has a bf. I totally DID NOT agree with this, but didnt tell her. Instead, I told her, "oh , the fee in Taiwan was sooo cheap! But the US, it's sooo expensive!!"
She replied, "Well, it doesnt matter, MONEY is NOT the issue here! It's NOTHING!"
Yeh, her dad is rich (building houses/big buildings), and of course, Money is Not the issue here.Their intension is to get a US citizenship, OF COURSE!!
And that really PISSED ME OFF!!

If they are that filthily rich, they can just go through the LEGAL process and earn the LEGAL status!! And , I'd respect them more!!

DO NOT DO IT, I WARN YOU!! It's just WRONG!!

Eel w/ Rice!

1. Broiled Eel (Made in Taiwan, farm raised)
2. Teriyaki sauce (soy sauce, mirin, rice wine, ginger, brown sugar, maple syrup)
3. Fresh wasabi
4. sesame seed
5. white pepper
6. Nori & fish flakes
7. red chili peper flakes

1. since the Eel is cooked already... all you need to do is to sprinkle all the above ingredients on top of the Eel , and drizzle some teriyaki sauce! Then pop it into microwave for 2 min, it will be SIZZLING HOT!

2. place the Eel on top of a bowl of rice (Japanese rice)

3. to be fancy, add some seaweed (see how it's made in one of my previous posts) on the side...
be careful, cuz you will definitely eat a LOT of rice, cuz this Eel & Rice is SOOOOO GOOD!!

** When I was little, Eel w/ rice was an expensive treat, sometimes my Mom would take me to the Jap. bento box restaurant and ordered this dish, but since it's Not cheap, so I didnt eat often! but Now, it's fairly cheap, if you just get it from market (during discount days).

Japanese like to eat Eel with rice during summer time, cuz they believe that Eel is very rich in flavor and has a lot of nutrients (Vitamine A & E, Omega 3, proteins, etc.). Since it's very HOT in summer, so it's best to eat Eel to boost up our energy!

** Taiwan USED to be the Largest farm raised fresh water Eel export, But recent years, it seems like the market is occupied by that stupid china!!
so recent years, when I went to market to get some Eel, it's always from china!! (Oh I hate china!) And the eels from china is a lot cheaper... yeh you wonder why HUH?! This is RED FLAG WARNING when you see something sooo cheap esp. it's from china!! Cheap doesnt mean it's gooood! (but most people dont care, cuz they care more about the money left in their pocket, not the Quality of the food!)

I feel VERY UNSAFE to eat ANY product from china, cuz they are famous in their POISONS in many of their products!! They'd add a lot of Extra preservatives, chemical stuff, Dirty stuff, heavy metals, .... Yeh any crazy thing you can imagine, they have their ways to add into them!!

Plus the factory or the places that made those foods or products are Dirty and Disgusting as HELL!! If you dont die from those poisons, you'll have very serious food Poisoning!!

Even though china is a HUGE market, and that everyone wants a piece of it.
BUT why they have to add sooo many Extra FLAVORS into the foods and other products??
yeh just cuz they dont eat them themselves, it doesnt mean they can do business like that!!

I'm Sure that they can SLEEP TIGHT at Nite!! (being sarcastic...)

It's BEST to just KEEP TO MYSELF!!!

Yesterday asked a friend if cetaphil (lotion) and the glucocorticoids (for skin problems) worked for her baby who has Atopic dermatitis, since it's been 2 weeks....

she was like, "oh she applied the lotion on his body, and his condition got WORSE!! so she stopped using it! she used some other commercial brand... " (she Avoided the steroid oniment!)

AHHH... I gave her a whole brand NEW (16 oz!) cetaphil and the steroid cream that I bought for myself!!
Plus, I Repeatedly explained and told her my Personal experiences (allergy problems) and how I self-cared myself!

I cared about this little pt, not just cuz naturally out of my heart (sympathy and EMPATHY!), but also cuz it's a good friend's baby!

I feel the PAIN that this baby is going through... even though I do not have the same disease, but have been suffering from multiple allergy problems...

I told her that I was allergic to a lot of commercial lotion that most people used for my entire life, so I never used lotion to maintain the health of my skin for many years! till a few years ago, a dermatologist recommended Cetaphil lotion and cleanser to me, I started falling in love with this lotion and NEVER Stopped using it since then!

It was like a gift from heaven! Yes I'm Not kidding! I'd rather to have super dry skin and even to the point that there were blistering/crackling.... I'd never use other huge bottle and cheap commercial brand lotion!

Also the steroid ointment has done many miracles ,whenver I have skin allergy problems!
It's from a dermatologist in Taiwan.. so it's LEGALLY prescribed by the MD! Yeh and it's NOT FREE, It's NOT CHEAP Either!!

That friend, despited of my effort and heart, QUESTIONED & DOUBTED that ointment!!

Well, would she DOUBT the drugs that US MD presribed for her/her kids?!?!

Well, of course ANYONE should not completely trust a doctor, and it's ok to be cautious!

A family member also has AD, and has been using this steroid for Many years! Never heard of him complaining about it!

And Of course, it doesnt matter what kind of steroid OR the PERCENTAGE (she Questioned this too), if one uses steorid for a long time for chronic diseases, there would be some bad complications!!

IF she didnt want them, she could have REFUSED IT! I didnt have to waste my MONEY and just gave away FREE STUFF!!

Oh this is just ONE incidence, she gets OVERLY PRECAUSIOUS ever since she got pregnanted with her FIRST kid, and now she has 3!!

like she liked eating snacks and junk food before she had kids, but she PROHIBITED them to have a little pleasure and little fun. I was like nice enough to give them a small pieace of chocolate, she got SUPERLY MAD, and that made Me feel like WHAT THE HELL?!

Anyway, after all the LESSONS that I've learned, I think, it's best to just KEEP TO MYSELF!
I should'nt have been too zealous and even spend time on them and on doing some research for them!!

There are some old sayings in Taiwan, "good heart got eaten by dogs!" and "using my hot face kisses one's cold butt!!" They basically meant that I'm just being nice and have a gold of heart and really really wanna help others, but others doesnt give a DAMN!! and plus they make you feel like SHIT!! LOL

NANOSHELLS CANCER TREATMENT

OMG, this is a SUPER FASCINATING cancer treatment!! It's definitely the greatest news for cancer pts and medical field!!

I first watched it on TV, and it totally grabed my full attention!

basically it's like a small golden bullet that attacks tumor cells, Not the ordinary chemo therapy!!

Great thanks to those researchers and their hardwork!!

NANOSHELLS CANCER TREATMENT PROVES EFFECTIVE IN FIRST ANIMAL TESTLaser

Treatments Eradicate All Tumors from Mice in Trial
A revolutionary new form of cancer therapy in development at Rice University and its licensee, Nanospectra Biosciences, has proven effective at eradicating tumors in laboratory animals during the first phase of animal testing.
The noninvasive cancer treatment uses a combination of harmless, near-infrared light and benign, gold nanoshells to destroy tumors with heat. The treatment does not affect healthy tissue.
"We are extremely encouraged by the results of these first animal tests," said Jennifer West, professor of bioengineering and chemical engineering. "These results confirm that nanoshells are effective agents for the photothermal treatment of in vivo tumors."
Results of the study are published in the June 25 issue of the journal Cancer Letters.
Invented in the 1990s by Naomi Halas at Rice, nanoshells are about 20 times smaller than a red blood cell. The multilayered nanoshells consist of a silica core covered by a thin gold shell. The size, shape and composition of nanoshells give them unique optical properties. By varying the size of the core and the thickness of the gold shell, researchers can tailor a nanoshell to respond to a specific wavelength of light.
The photothermal cancer treatment uses nanoshells that are tuned to respond to near-infrared light. Located just outside the visible spectrum, near-infrared light passes harmlessly through soft tissue. In the treatment, nanoshells convert this light into heat that destroys nearby tumor cells. The heating is very localized and does not affect healthy tissue adjacent to the tumor.
The animal trial involved 25 mice with tumors ranging in size from 3-5.5 millimeters. The mice were divided into three groups. The first group was given no treatment. The second received saline injections, followed by three minutes exposure to near-infrared laser light. The final group received nanoshell injections and laser treatments.
The blood vessels inside tumors develop poorly, allowing small particles like nanoshells to leak out and accumulate inside tumors. In the test, researchers injected nanoshells into the mice, waited six hours to give the nanoshells time to accumulate in the tumors and then applied a 5 millimeter wide laser on the skin above each tumor.
Surface temperature measurements taken on the skin above the tumors during the laser treatments showed a marked increase that averaged about 46 degrees Fahrenheit for the nanoshells group. There was no measurable temperature increase at the site of laser treatments in the saline group. Likewise, sections of laser-treated skin located apart from the tumor sites in the nanoshells group also showed no increase in temperature, indicating that the nanoshells had accumulated as expected within the tumors.
All signs of tumors disappeared in the nanoshells group within 10 days. These mice remained cancer-free after treatment.
Tumors in the other two test groups continued to grow rapidly. All mice in these groups were euthanized when the tumors reached 10 millimeters in size. The mean survival time of the mice receiving no treatment was 10.1 days; the mean survival time for the group receiving saline injections and laser treatments was 12.5 days.
"The results of these first animal studies are very promising, and while we don't yet have a target date for our first human trial, our entire team is working hard to make this treatment available to cancer patients as soon as possible," said Halas, the Stanley C. Moore Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and professor of chemistry. "We have licensed the technology to the Houston-based firm Nanospectra Biosciences Inc., which will obtain the necessary approvals and funding for human trials."
This research was funded by the National Science Foundation under both an STTR grant to Nanospectra Biosciences and a National Nanotechnology Initiative grant to Rice's Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology.

Shin-Sen-Gumi HAKATA Ramen

Today went to this Ramen shop for lunch...

Lots of people inside and outside waiting for tables. I was like hmmm, it must be good?

Sat at the counter, ordered their lunch special set A (Hakata ramen with gyoza) for $7.25!
Originally, I only wanted ordered Ramen ($6.95)... but the stupid waitress asked if I wanted lunch special... (from A to D or E?)

Yes since I'm a Talented chef, so I have HIGH expectation everytime I visit a resturant that I've never been to.

The reason that I went was, last night looking through some blogger's exp on ramen in the US and in japan, so I was quite hungry... It's very BAD to read about those articles late at night!!

so I decided to give it a try today.

The special thing about this store was, they asked you to fill out how you'd like your noodle to be done (hard, normal, soft), how OILY you want your soup to be (very oily, normal, light), and how RICH you want your soupd to be (rich, normal, light).

Another special thing about this restaurant is, if you finish the ramen, you can order another order of RAMEN only, for 95 cents!! This, I've never heard of before!

So I picked normal noodle, normal oil, and RICH soup base.

The two MAIN characters of jap. ramen are, 1. the SOUP BASE. 2. the Ramen!!
and of course, there are toppings, like cha shu pork, green onion, pickled ginger, etc...

So SOUP and Ramen are very important and play the KEY factors, and pretty much set the scale in customers' mind! And whether or not I'm gonna come back again!!

Didnt wait for long, since the only thing the chef needed to do was to cook the ramen!

When it came, I looked through the ingredients inside this bowl, 3 very small pieces of cha shu (ha no wonder, they want people to order extra cha shu for $2!!) I ate the pork first.

The soup was VERY VERY SALTY!! Yeh it's rich, but way too salty!

I can tell that the soup is Ton ko tsu (pork bone flavor), shoyu (soy sauce), and some sweet flavor thing... so It tasted kinda ODD!!

Then, it comes the ramen... I was disappointed, cuz the ramen was tooo THIN, and not al dente!! (not Q!!)

cuz it's very thin ramen, so it only needs like 2 or 3 min of cooking, if goes more than that, it become tooo soft!!

Also, the ramen has a weird taste...

I like to add white pepper and sometimes some jap chili pepper to my soup..

but I was disappointed at the soup that it didnt have strong Garlic flavor!

I quickly finish the ramen, and then asked for another order of ramen.

They gave me a small plate of green onion and a bottle of shoyu, just in case the soup was thinned out after adding the ramen.

Actually, the ramen tasted a bit better the 2nd round, and cuz ramen came with a bit of water, so the soup was thinned out a bit, BUT it tasted better and more eatable!

In my mind, the best soup base should be very rich pork flavored PLUS a lot of Garlic!!

In fact, 山頭火 ramen shop (another jap ramen from japan), even though this shop is not very famoust here, but the soup is rich and garlicky!! I like to order Big size, since I love noodle and also the small size only like 1 buck different!! so I might as well order large size!
(well large size is NOT that big... just in case you are wondering)

but the soup is also VERY salty, PLUS VERY OILY!! So for health conscious, I scooped out the excess oil...

So the Q remained......... Will I go back again?!

Sesame chicken with Sticky Rice!!

Since I didnt make the sticky rice bun this year, I thought oh I could make Sesame chicken with sticky rice!

It's a very easy and a very famous traditional Taiwanese dish!!

1. Sticky rice (long grain)
2. Organic chicken legs
3. Ginger
4. Dark sesame oil
5. rice wine
6. mirin
7. sea salt
8. white pepper

*chop up ginger into small pieces, mix it with dark sesame oil and salt in hot pan; I like to put a lot of ginger into this dish.

*Add chicken and rice, stir and mix well

*add rice wine, mirin, white pepper

*then transfer everything into a pot, put it in rice cooker, I cooked for like 1.5 hrs. well just till the rice is fully cooked!

* It smells soooooo GOOD after it's all cooked!!

** Be careful do not eat too much during summer time! cuz it's a dish for cold weather! Ginger and sesame oil can make you feel very hot... so it's good to eat this when its very cold!
but if it's hot weather, you'd feel uncomfortable after eating this!

** Also DO NOT eat this dish when you have a cold!! Again ginger and sesame oil can make your throat in more pain than it already is when you are sick!! so avoid these two ingredients when you are sick!!

**Otherwise, it's a very tasty dish and can warm you up during cold winter time!! you wont feel cold anymore!! No more heater!!

Today is Triangular Bamboo Leaves Sticky Rice Holiday!!

Ok the name sounds odd, but I dont know how to translate the chinese name into English..

First, today is 5/15 Chinese lunar calendar. so Every year the date is different on western calendar.

2nd, Taiwanese and Chinese all over the world would celebrate this holiday by eating this triangular shape sticky rice, which is wraped by bamboo leaves.

years ago (2001) I wanted to try to make this kind of delicacy. so I went and shopped for all the ingredients : sticky rice, penuts, dry shitake mushroom (which has a very strong aroma), dry shallot, dry squid, pork belly, salty raw duck egg yolk, dry scallop, garlic, soy sauce, rice wine, mirin, olive oil, sesame oil, white pepper

1. wash and let the sticky rice sits in water for a few hours.
2. wash and let raw penuts sits in water for at least 24 hrs. and cook it in steamer till it;s almost cooked
3. slowly braised pork belly (chop it into chunks) with soy sauce, mirin, rice wine, brown sugar, garlic (OR skip this process, just add the pork into #5, and mix well)

4. put mushroom into a cup, add water, let stand till they'r all POOF UP!
5. EVOO and sesame oil in hot pan, slice up the mushroom, stir fried the mushroom with dry shallot, garlic, squid, and/or pork
6. Mix the sticky rice into the mixture, add soy sauce, rice wine, mirin, white pepper

7. clean the bamboo leaves with brushes and warm water...
8. mix the duck yolk with rice wine... sit for a while..
9. also let the dry scallop sits in water for while...

9. Fold 2 leaves at its 1/3 area, make a traingular shape. Put a scoop of rice mixture into the leaves, add dry scallop, duck yolk, and cooked porkbelly, then adds some more rice to cover up

10. covers up the rice with the leaves and make it into traingular shape. Tight it up

11. Either prepare a big pot of water or steam in rice cooker for HOURS. (yeh I dont remember exactly how many hours!) Probably a couple of hours!!
but it will take longer if steam the sticky rice, cuz it's not easy to cook the sticky rice, it needs more time than regular white rice.

*** This was how my grandma made it when I was a little kid. I remember I sat next to her in grandparents house, and I remember all the nice ingreidents (duck yolk, dry squid, dry mushroom, dry scallop, dry penuts). I dont remember all the details, but I still remember how GOOD it tasted!! After that year, I asked her to make it again, she always said , nooo she's too OLD to do it!! she could not do it no more!!
but I heard that she acutally made it AGAIN yeasterday After all these years!! OH I was sooooo JEALOUS!! I wish I could be there and eat this delicacy!! cuz in my memory, NO ONE could make it better than my grandma could!! Ha, well maybe mine could beat hers!!

*After I did all the hard work, my mom took some to NYC to share them with my sister and brother and sister's bf. and Of Course, they LOVED it!!
