Another Physician's Salary surverys

http://www.allied-physicians.com/salary_surveys/physician-salaries.htm

I was quite surprised when I read Forbe's article about the best paid jobs. cuz for one, the Salary was way too low for the jobs they listed, and for two, the number 1 job was Anesthologist!! I thought it's ORS-Spine surgery, Neuro-Surgeon, etc?!
And even for internal med was like number 6 on the list! and psychiatris was number 8?!

I never thought that a psychiatrist would be that HOT and made that much!?!

As for IM, does that include all kinds of speciality?! like Cardio can earn $811,000!!

Any thoughts?

one should also taken into account that cardiologists, pulmonologists, surgeons generally work A LOT MORE horus than regular docs

psychiatrists work with the toughest patients of our society... highly mentally draining...... so they are paid due to high demand and low supply

totally right about pushy parents who want me to marry a female doc , then i ask why, the parent answers... because you make double if you marry one....

but the sad truth is i also find females residents can understand my pain as a resident a lot better than a nondoctor can....

I know that cardiologists work long hours, but I didnt know that pulmologist work long hrs too??

I've got a friend, he said he's a pulmologist+ critical care+ sleep med, and his parents said that he made like 300000/year!! well that do sound like a lot more than I thought. cuz if base on that survey,
Pulmonary Medicine + Critical Care $215,000 $288,000 $417,000 . Max. they make like $400000. but if pulm med a lone, possiblely $200000+.

Besides, is $300000 before tax or after tax?

but are the figuers correct in that survery? I know that different areas/regions/cities, even different hospitals have different amount, but generally speaking, are the amount close to the REAL deal?

I know that psychiatrists make decent amount of money, but if compared with cardiologist, radiologist, Gastroenterologist, etc. , psychiatrists can not beat them! also psychiatrist only need like 4 yrs of training, but for IM subspeciality they need like 6 yrs of trainging! so I think that a few more years would be paid off in the long run! J/K!

I thought about being a psychiatrist in undergrad, but NOT ANYMORE! Discovered my new interest in Med school, so...

HA, your parents want you to marry a female doc too! like my previous post, my parents pressured my brother and sister marry a doctor!! LOL

None of them agree with my parents!
All parents think about is $$$$$$$$$$!!

Of course female residents or your collegue would also feel the same, cuz they've been going thru the same things as male residents or docs have been!

Making double SO WHAT?! If she's not someone you love, thats pointless! None of you gonna have time to contribute to the family, and often times, the FEMALE doc has to give up the career, cuz kids and husband. Yet the male doc can still go out and make money and bring home the BREAD!

well having a lot of money is good, but are we gonna have the QUALITY of LIFE?! Are we gonna be able to enjoy it?!

i can tell you it is all about how much you want to work.... my dad is a psychiatrist in california (probably one of the worst state a doc can be in )and he pulled in .. way above the national average.. til family issues set in...it really comes down to how much are you willing to work.. there is an internal medicine doc here who does only internal medicine (hospital only).. he pulls in 500K a year but he practically lives in the hospital and he loves working...
so in the end pick a specialty you like cuz medicine will take over your life

female docs tend to pick easier specialties that take less hours.. so they tend to spend much less time on career

last thing is
pulmonologists are like the default ICU consult.... their life is tougher than cardiologists

sleep study is good money though :)
easy too
